Marketing Research, Analysis and Reporting

Who your market actually is, what your competitors are really doing, and a dashboard that keeps answering it — not a PDF nobody opens.

Most small businesses make their biggest decisions on a hunch and a competitor's homepage. This is the work of replacing that with something you can check: how big the market really is, who else is in it, what they charge, where the gaps are, and which customers are actually worth chasing.

It ends in two things, not one. A written report that stops at recommendations you can act on — each one named against what it would take to do it. And a live dashboard, built on your own accounts, so the numbers keep updating after the report is filed and forgotten.

What from £3,500 gets you

  • One market, one audience, up to 5 named competitors
  • Desk research — public data, published pricing, real search demand
  • A written report that ends in recommendations, not observations
  • One live dashboard — up to 10 metrics, 2 data sources, on your accounts
  • One revision round, plus 30 days of dashboard fixes from handover
Covers one market, one audience and up to 5 competitors, as desk research. Extra markets, segments, competitors or data sources are specced and quoted first. Surveys, interviews and paid data licences are separate — research nobody scoped is how this kind of project quietly doubles.

Fair use applies to every published scope — what's included, and what's quoted separately.

Questions people ask

How much does market research cost in the UK?

A UK agency research project typically runs £5,000–25,000, and freelance competitor analysis £1,500–5,000. SilentShift starts at £3,500 for one market, one audience and up to five competitors — with the questions locked in writing before any work starts.

What's the difference between this and the analytics service?

Analytics tells you what already happened on your own website. This tells you what is happening in your market — who else is there, what they charge, what people are searching for, and where the gap is. They answer different questions and they pair well.

Do you run surveys or interview my customers?

Not within this price. That's primary research — recruitment, fieldwork and transcript analysis — and it's a separate engagement, quoted properly. What's included here is desk research: public data, published pricing, and real search demand.

What happens if the research says my idea is wrong?

Then the report says so. You are paying for an answer, not for agreement — a report that tells you to stop is worth considerably more than £3,500, and considerably more than one that tells you what you hoped to hear.

Do you then implement the recommendations?

The report ends at recommendations, and each one is named against the work it would take. If you want that work done, it gets quoted separately — no assumption that you will, and no padding of the research to sell it.
